Wow! What an amazing start. I don't see how it can get any better from here. I think we could cancel the rest of our plans and stay here. Except that we are trying to see America, in all her glory.
We have been spoiled by Ethan, our personal park ranger, tour guide and family photographer. Thanks Ethan for everything; Gem Lake was entertaining just watching the 2 legged wildlife, andd the tacos were very tasty.
We went on another long hike to a lake that was so pretty, they only call it The Loch. What a hike, what a view.
The Loch hike
We realized today how spoiled we have been. Beautiful weather, scenic views, and relative quiet. Today was a busier day at the park and getting around people could be difficult. We also have been spoiled by the weather until yesterday.
Yesterday the pop-up got it's first taste of weather. We had severe thunderstorms, extreme winds, and pea sized hail. She fared well and did not leak. We played cards inside even though we couldn't hear each other. Sleep was tough because it felt like we would fly away. But she did well. We still don't have a name for her. Eli recommends the Berginator.
Tomorrow, we break her down and cross the Continental Divide. The road is so skinny and has no guard rails. Rob's gonna need a couple of value. Next stop, Steamboat Springs and Pearl Lake.
